Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Johane is an accomplished event planner and event designer who has made a name for herself as the founder of “Classy & Fabulous Events” in Rhode Island. What started as a hobby, quickly developed into a successful business enterprise, serving a very diverse community. Today, Johane has over a decade of experience working as an event coordinator, with an exceptional track record of customer satisfaction.
Johane obtained her certificate as an event coordinator from QC Event and Wedding Planning School. For the first three years after completion of the program, her passion for people led her to serve people as an event planner at a non-profit organization, Kingdom Embassy International Church. She was in charge of assisting, coordinating and decorating for all special events organized by the multicultural church. She built a large clientele as members of the community began to be exposed to her work and admire her professionalism.
As a native of Haiti, Johane communicates fluently in three languages: English, French, and Creole. Her strong communication skills, her organizational skills, her creativity and attention to detail have earned her excellence as an event planner and designer.

Johane highly values her customers. She aims to impress everyone who uses her event services. Johane believes in great teamwork. She works hard to ensure that all events are wonderful and as stress-free as possible for customers and coworkers alike. Johane executes concepts flawlessly while maintaining a pleasant, calm and helpful demeanor to guarantee an incredible experience. She also remains teachable, seeking to learn more about the events industry and creating memorable experiences for her customers.
Johane loves spending time with her husband and her two boys. She enjoys reading stories to the boys and going on outings with them. She loves life and enjoys it to the fullest. Johane and her family have recently relocated from Rhode Island to Houston, TX. They are excited about this new chapter of their lives and have been enjoying every moment in this wonderful state.
Why did you decide to go into event and wedding planning? What about it appeals to you?
Johane chose to go into event and wedding planning because she loves LOVE, and helping others. Through event and wedding planning Johane is able to do both while expressing herself and creating a vision for her clients. The art and beauty of watching nothing blossom into something bring life to Johane, and that is what appeals to her.

What’s one thing that you wish someone had told you when you were just starting out in the event planning business?
If someone would have told Johane when she was starting out that contacts and disclosure agreements would save a lot of headaches and lost money, she would have focused on getting the paperwork set up a little sooner. In addition, she would have become more familiar with Microsoft Exel and other office work tools that would help her in the business.
You create decorative paper flowers for your events as well! You have spent a lot of time perfecting that technique. What inspired you to start making such unique wedding décor?
Nothing about Johane is ordinary. Instead of having the same backdrops as everyone else she decided to make her own giant paper flower wall. After that, it became clear to Johane that is was a God-given gift. She stays up all hours of the night cutting away – shaping and cutting for hours, and days in a row. She is so passionate that a job that usually takes 3-4 weeks will be done within days because she just needs to see her art manifest into reality.
There’s nothing Johane enjoys more than standing back and admiring her hard work and dedication come to life. Every petal, every leaf is hand-crafted and created in an instant. Finally seeing the end result is simply magical, for her and anyone else who has the privilege of witnessing it.

It looks like you’ve done some styled shoots for your business. How do you team up with vendors and models to photograph your designs?
When Johane does styled shoots for Classy Fabulous she networks at vendor events, workshops, and expos. Johane also makes herself known through all forms of social media. When there is an event coming up, she blasts it on social media, making it known what vendors and models she will need. As the applicants come in, Johane has an interviewing process to make sure she puts together the right team for each event.
How do you think QC Event School has prepared you for working in the field?
QC Event School has prepared Johane to work in the field by teaching her about the operations and logistics behind event planning. It is a business, so as much as passion and vision are behind event planning, there is a certain criterion of paperwork needed to make the events and planning go smoothly and accurately.

What do you think the future holds for you and your business? Are there any other event planning paths you’d like to try out?
Johane truly believes that she has a multimillion dollar business packed inside of her, and what you believe will manifest. Her paper flowers have become the birthplace of many great doors opening up. The number of clients coming in on a daily basis is more than one person can handle. She has a growing team which she is still hiring and interviewing for. Johane would love to have a strong and developed team so that in the near future Classy Fabulous will go global with events and paper flowers!
