QC’s Event & Wedding Planning Course: My Honest Review of Unit A
Carissa Corsi is a QC Event School Student Ambassador. Her business specializes in wedding, event, and party planning. Carissa is currently enrolled in QC’s Event & Wedding Planning Course, as well as the Luxury Wedding & Event Planning and Event Decor courses.
Do you Need to Take an Event and Wedding Planning Course?
Let’s get this out of the way: technically, you don’t need to complete an event and/or wedding planning course in order to work as a planner. But in NO way does that mean you shouldn’t still get that professional training!
The fact is: although a certification isn’t required to work as an event or wedding planner, it’s still strongly recommended. Proper training enhances a planner’s overall performance. Maybe you’re already familiar with the ins and outs of event and wedding planning. Maybe you’re not. Either way, an event and wedding planning course will help arm you with a lot of crucial knowledge and must-have skills! This goes just as much for experienced planners as it does for brand-new ones.
For example, you’ll obviously learn everything you need to know about being a professional planner. But you’ll also discover how to run a successful business. You’ll be provided with valuable tools, techniques, and specific tips/tricks. These assets will allow you to truly thrive!
Moreover, you’ll fully understand how to book and attract more clients. You’ll be able to build a solid brand for yourself and have a career that actually prospers. A reputable event and wedding planning course will strengthen a planner’s skill-set and resume. It’ll help you discover your niche, as well as give you confidence and a competitive edge. In a nutshell, proper training is the single best way to set you up for success.
Why I Chose to Get Professionally Trained
As an event and wedding planner, I can truthfully say that I’m forever learning. I started my journey back in 2013, interning for the Patriots. I also interned with a woman who owned her own event and wedding planning business. Over the years, I’ve organized/planned weddings of 200+ people. I’ve also put together:
- Industry trade shows
- Conferences
- Corporate events
- Baby and bridal showers
- Birthday parties
- Holiday parties
In 2018, I started thinking about starting my own business. So, I received a basic certification. However, the program I partook in wasn’t extremely extensive. It provided value and, of course, a certification. But thereafter, I wanted to expand my knowledge even further. With that, I began researching online event and wedding planning courses.
QC’s Event & Wedding Planning Course
I chose to pursue my wedding and event planner certification online because I needed a way to fit my courses into my busy schedule. I had a 9-5 job at the time. As such, my training needed to be done on my own terms and on my own time. It was important that I didn’t feel as though I’d missed the mark. I needed a flexible option that allowed me to dedicate time to the career of my dreams in a more relaxed and convenient manner. After a bit of researching, I found myself drawn to QC Event School.
QC Event School has an A+ BBB ranking and is ILEA-approved. They offer a wide variety of event and wedding planning courses to choose from. Their courses, along with their certifications, are all internationally-recognized. I was very impressed by the fact that graduates would receive reputable certifications and designations, as opposed to just certificates of completion.
Furthermore, QC has a lot of positive reviews, both on Google and Facebook alike. They also have an active social media presence, which I appreciate. Lastly, I found their tuition to be very affordable. Students have the ability to pay in full (which comes with its own discount), commit to low monthly payment plans, and take advantage of monthly promotional offers!
Other Perks of Being a QC Event School Student
Some other things I love about QC Event School is the tutor support given to students by real industry experts. They all have decades’ worth of experience, so you know you’re getting mentored by the best of the best. Plus, there’s a large community of peers and tutors for you to connect and network with. Resources like the Online Student Center and Virtual Classroom are special bonuses that many online schools don’t offer.
It’s also worth stressing again that QC’s remote, self-paced learning environment is undoubtedly one of the biggest perks! You can complete your studies from quite literally anywhere. This kind of flexibility is rarely found in professional certification courses.
The Event & Wedding Planning Course: My Thoughts on Unit A
QC’s Event & Wedding Planning Course offers six units in total (A-F). Upon completion, grads are provided with an ILEA-approved and internationally-recognized certification. I completed Unit A back in July of 2020. My tutor, Lisa Forbes, gave me an A+ grading, which was very exciting. In my opinion, Unit A of the Event & Wedding Planning Course is a truly great kickstart!
This unit covers the MUSTS of event and wedding planning. By that, I mean everything – from how to plan and execute corporate and social events, to creating timelines and your business plan, and more. Plus, you’re given instructional videos and interactive assignments that allow you to plan your very own events. This way, you’ll feel like you’re actually in a live, physical classroom!
Through my assignments, I was able to organize many different kinds of celebrations, such as a New Year’s event and a corporate event. The learning materials are extremely comprehensive, to the point, and easy to follow! In terms of support throughout, your tutor is always there to assist every step of the way!
Unit A gives you all of the required basics needed in order to excel in the following units. This unit is also especially useful for those who may not be as experienced in event and wedding planning. It’ll really get you to thinking about your business specifically. I highly recommend completing the business unit at the end of this program. Although it’s optional, you’ll be a lot stronger if you take advantage of this training.
As for established planners with experience already under their belts, Unit A still serves a purpose. It can serve as a great refresher!
Final Thoughts
All in all, I strongly recommend QC’s Event & Wedding Planning Course. Whether you’re new to the industry or already a seasoned expert, this course offers useful lessons for everyone. Personally, I’ve excited to see what the rest of the program will teach me!
