3 Foolproof Summer Sangria Recipes
If I had to name an official drink for summertime, I would definitely have to say sangria! It’s fresh, easy, and so customizable to your own tastebuds. It’s a great choice to serve at summer celebrations because you can make large batches at a time well in advance so it’s all ready to go when it’s needed. It can be a bride and groom’s signature drink for their big day, or can be made instantly for an open or cash bar for sangria-loving guests (like me).
I decided to come up with 3 different summer sangria recipes that are so easy to make and absolutely foolproof—tried and tested by yours truly. For each one, I’ve provided instructions on how to make multiple-serving batches and how to make a single serving instantaneously for easy, great-tasting sangria.
Here are all of the ingredients you’ll need:
- Red wine
- White wine
- Sprite
- Cranberry raspberry cocktail
- Pineapple juice
- San Pellegrino (Blood Orange)
- Oranges
- Lemons
- Limes
- Lemon juice
- Lime juice
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
Preparation:
After washing your fruit, grab a few mixing bowls, a couple of cutting boards and your favorite kitchen knife. You’ll need to slice your strawberries, oranges, lemons, and limes. I’m a little bit of a seed-snob, so while I slice the fruit I like to get rid of any visible seeds before tossing the fruit into their proper mixing bowl. Once you’ve sliced all your fruit, you’re ready to begin!
In addition to being a seed-snob, I’m also anti-pulp. When serving the large batch of sangria, I prefer to run the mix through a strainer first. If you’re pro-pulp, leave your strainer in the kitchen.
Note: The multiple serving recipes make a relatively small batch for just a few people. If you would like to make more, simply increase the amount of ingredients but keeping to the proper ratio.
Pineapple White Wine Sangria
Multiple servings:
- Pour 2 cups of white wine into the mixing bowl
- Add 1 cup of pineapple juice
- Add oranges, lemons, and limes (I used 1 orange, 1 lemon, and 2 limes for this serving size)
- Let the mixture sit for at least a few hours
- When you’re ready to serve it, mix in 1 cup of Sprite (Note: It’s important to add the Sprite at the last possible second, otherwise it will lose its carbonation if soaking with the rest of the mixture)
- Pour your sangria into a glass, include some of the fruit for added presentation/snacking, and add some ice
Instant recipe:
- Pour 1 cup of white wine into the glass
- Add a ½ cup of pineapple juice and a ½ cup of Sprite
- Squirt a dash of lemon juice and a dash of lime juice into the glass
- Mix
- Add slices of fruit for presentation
- Add ice
Blood Orange Red Wine Sangria
Multiple servings:
- Pour 1 cup of red wine into mixing bowl
- Add ½ of an orange
- Let it sit for at least a few hours
- When ready to serve, add 2 cups of San Pellegrino Blood Orange drink (as this drink is carbonated)
- Pour sangria into a glass, adding ice and an orange slice for presentation/snacking
Instant recipe:
- Pour ½ cup of red wine into a glass
- Add 1 cup of blood orange drink
- Mix
- Add slices of orange for presentation
- Add ice
Fruity Cranberry Red Wine Sangria
